Like our peers across the nation, Riverside Healthcare hallways were quiet as patients, staff, and volunteers alike stayed home in light of COVID and visitor precautions. But as the Governor’s Executive Orders allowed for the return of elective services, Riverside faced the challenge of assuring our community that it was once again safe to come back for much-needed care. We launched the Riverside Safe Campaign to communicate that “Your Health Can’t Wait” and to share the new precautions our team is taking to keep everyone safe from COVID exposure.
Volunteers became a key constituency to demonstrate the effective safeguards in place at Riverside and re-establish a comfortable, welcoming healthcare environment. Beginning in June, volunteers were invited to return as part of a phased-plan that included COVID-19 testing, masks, and social distancing. We are deeply grateful for their contributions, like music in hospital lobbies and wayfinding assistance, that reduce stress, create levity, and improve the experience of all our patients and visitors! The simple presence of volunteers has added a level of calm and visual assurance that Riverside is a safe place to be for volunteers, patients, and our community at large!
